Dr. Petra Plencner - From Myth to Mind - Harnessing the Power of Universal Archetypes
In the realm of psychology, few concepts have captured the imagination and fascination of scholars and enthusiasts alike as profoundly as Carl Jung's archetypes. These primordial symbols, embedded deep within the collective unconscious, offer a profound lens through which to understand human behavior, motivations, and the universal patterns that shape our lives. Today, we embark on a journey with Dr. Petra Plencner, to explore the transformative power of these archetypes and their significance in our quest for self-discovery and personal growth.
Dr. Petra Plencner has dedicated her career to unraveling the mysteries of the human psyche, drawing upon Jung's groundbreaking work to guide individuals towards a deeper understanding of themselves and their place in the world. With her expertise and passion for Jungian psychology, she illuminates the path towards self-awareness and inner transformation.
At the heart of Jung's theory lie the archetypes, universal symbols that reside in the collective unconscious and manifest in dreams, myths, and cultural narratives.
For Dr. Plencner, the study of archetypes offers a tool for self-discovery and personal growth. "Archetypes serve as mirrors, reflecting back to us the hidden aspects of ourselves," she explains. "By recognizing and integrating these archetypal energies, we can unlock greater self-awareness and unleash our full potential."
One of the most powerful archetypes Dr. Plencner explores with her clients is the Shadow – the dark, often repressed aspects of the self that we prefer to ignore or deny. "Facing the Shadow is a crucial step in the journey towards wholeness," she emphasizes. "By acknowledging and embracing our shadow aspects, we reclaim lost parts of ourselves and cultivate greater authenticity and inner harmony."
Through hypnosis, Dr. Plencner helps individuals navigate the complex terrain of their inner world, unraveling the layers of conditioning and unconscious patterns that shape their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. By illuminating the archetypal forces at play within their psyche, she empowers her clients to embark on a journey of self-discovery and personal transformation.

My fascination with psychology and hypnotherapy began in my childhood. At the age of 12 I purchased my first textbook on hypnosis and I became curious about the depths of human psyche. I would even gather my friends after school and practice on them various hypnotic techniques I’ve learned from the books- very unconventional entertainment for a teenager! We were mostly fascinated by the past life hypnosis at that time, and we found it hilarious to observe the images and stories that would come up in our mind under the hypnotic trance.
Later in life, I took my passion to learn more about human brain more seriously, and I completed psychology degrees, including early childhood development in the UK. In 2012, I was offered a scholarship for a PhD. in psychology in Melbourne, and that’s when my Australian journey began.
During my studies I delved into research projects exploring childhood traumas, personality development, mental health and resilience. I also had the privilege of teaching related subjects across Melbourne’s well-known universities, and I also supervised research projects for many psychology students.
Despite my scientific background, I remained a strong interest in alternative therapies, finding them more aligned with my personal beliefs. After completing my doctorate, I finally decided to pursue my childhood hobby and I obtained ‘Advanced Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis and Applied Psychotherapy’ and I started my own hypnotherapy practice.
Apart from my academic education, I’ve participated in numerous courses, therapies, and seminars across Europe that sparked my interest in alternative psychology treatments, spirituality, and feminine healing through the Divine Feminine energy.
I am a lifelong learner, and as a member of professional associations, I continuously upgrade my skills and knowledge through professional development and alternative healing modalities.
