Rebekah Fisher - Hypnotherapy for Childbirth
The 2022 Australian Hypnosis Conference is shaping up to be surrounded by family and children. Rebekah Fisher applied to be a speaker and teach about hypnotherapy for childbirth.
As I navigated Rebekah’s webpage I was touched by pure kindness. I had never met this woman and instantly I was keen to talk to her online. We jumped onto a zoom session and discussed how hypnotherapy for childbirth is changing the horror stories of the past.
Childbirth can now be one of the most enjoyable and memorable experiences not only for the mother but for the child, father and other family members. Rebekah told me how the child can bring through the trauma the mother can feel during childbirth and that it doesn’t have to be that way.
Pregnant couples need to be supported as their lives transition. Rebekah is a birth doula. Supporting families on their journey with techniques and strategies that are easy to learn and apply. Rebekah is gorgeous! she has an infectious laugh and energy that makes you want to smile.
I asked Rebekah “why do people tell horror stories about child birth?” she explained that it’s usually the only way the person can connect with the fact that they survived. This got me thinking about a new form of ethics that hypnotherapy is bringing to birthing.
Join in Rebekah’s talk … she will be teaching things such as
This is my birthing journey, not my mothers/friends
Having standards towards yourself and your future child - It’s ok to tell people not to touch your belly
Relaxing into the experience and being present with the natural process
Establishing natural and healthy birth tactics for faster healing

I first became a doula in 2002 because I had experienced four amazing and empowering natural births. I believe with every part of my being, that helping women to create the birth they desire is what I have been put on this earth to do.
My first experience with birth was as a young girl, growing up on the Sepic River in Papua New Guinea. I was fascinated and in awe of these woman who, had no medical support whatsoever, give birth to their babies, surrounded by other women of the tribe.
My mother also gave birth six more times after my own birth. So giving birth has been in my blood and awareness for as long as I can remember.
After my Doula Training, I did an Advanced Doula and Childbirth Education Course. Still wanting more, I did a HypnoDoula course. Then wanting to further help women feel empowered and confident, I gained Certificates in Hypnotherapy, Life and Relationship Coaching.
I am naturally clairvoyant and believe that giving birth is the oldest Shamanic experience that we have. Women have the power to go deep within and connect to Spirit or Source and give birth.
Birth is a deeply transformative experience. It is an emotional journey, not just a physical and mental one. The more prepared you are emotionally, the better you will be handle yourself on the day. You are eager to meet your baby and yet you may be unsure of how you will handle the pain that everyone seems to be talking about. I was more scared of getting an epidural than having a natural birth. However, after attending over 100 births as a doula, I am no longer scared of the epidural. Some women want one because they feel safer and more in control.
There are many unknowns in giving birth. You can have a plan, but what if your baby hasn't read the fine print? This incredible event can bring up a lot of ear and anxiety, that's for sure. Every woman has them. It is normal. You can rise above your fears and learn how to deeply trust in the wisdom of your body and your intuition. I teach this to every woman. This is the secret to an amazing and trauma free birth.
I have attended home births, hospital births, birth centre births, (mine were also birth centre births), water births, and c-sections. What every parent wants, is a healthy and safe delivery. Women want to feel understood and their needs met without loss of dignity. My clients have wanted to real and practical tools to handle the anxiety that surrounds them, from the day their babies decides to be born, to their position and how they will manage the pain. These beautiful women, have wanted my wisdom and experience in managing their expectations and those of their partners, so that they can be the best versions of themselves as they welcome they guide that baby out their bodies and into their arms.
Giving birth is powerful and life changing. It encompasses so much more than just knowing how to breath and what to pack in your bag or whether to give birth at home or not. After nearly thirty years of passionately guiding women, I can assure you, that the more prepared you are emotionally for giving birth, the easier it will be. The way we give birth shapes how we feel about our babies as we begin motherhood. So how we feel about giving birth matters. It lays the foundation of how we connect and bond with our baby, as well as our partners.
I am looking forward with excitement and joy, to helping you create the birth that you desire.
In gratitude, Rebekah
