- John Pellen - RySe - Record your hypnotherapy sessions Watch the Full Presentation at the Bottom
In 2021 John and Trish listened to the hypnosis community and banded together to create RySe.
Welcome from John Pellen Co-Creator of RySe
Making a high-quality audio is essential to any professional therapists. The problem doesn’t lie within the therapist. The problem lies within the abundance of audio recording device (plus expenses) and then the master’s degree required to understand how it all works.
John Pellen has the qualifications, education and experience and has created a simplified and affordable system that any therapist will be able to use confidently.
The RySe system allow you to:
· Record your sessions with or without music
· Record your audios with or without music
· Allows your client to have fully adjustable audio
· Allows you to hear the clients’ responses
· Allows all audios to be edited.
Why not use your mobile phone for the recordings?
Mobile phone microphones are not high quality and create a “hollow” effect on the voice. This reduces immersion for the client. The microphone is also rather sensitive to tttt, pppp and ssss sounds. These are distracting in audios.
When you go to edit the audio if you made a mistake the file format will not be compatible and will need to be converted (seriously who wants to add more programs and tech to a simple process).
What do you need to create your own recording system?
You will need the following:
· Mixer
· Microphone
· Recording device
· Headphones
With many audio mixing devices on the market, you can spend anywhere from $50 to $10,000 on a system. The key here is to find a mixer that is simple enough to use without costing an arm and a leg that also has the capacity to adjust your voice, music and effects.
The RySe system uses an audio mixer with 3 channels to enhance and place effects on your voice. The great thing about the RySe mixer is that it does not need to be plugged into your pc or laptop to work. It is a standalone device and full portable.
When it comes to microphones, you want to choose a dynamic microphone. Lapel microphones are great for when talking to clients however, when it comes to radio voice quality the lapel microphone doesn’t cut the mustard (especially if they are wired into the headset). Lapel microphones create hollow and low-quality sound that really isn’t good for reselling your audios.
The recording device to record your audios on can vary drastically in price. We originally tried one that was about $30 and one that was $150. The $30 device wasn’t a very good quality. You will want to choose an audio recording device that does stereo sound (this means that the audio is crisp and clear) that is also compatible with your pc, if you wish to edit the files. Most audio recorders come with a built-in memory card slot that you can plug into your PC with an adapter.
Headphones. This one is a bit tricky but worth the time and investment. The headphones for yourself and your client you want to have noise cancellation that is also volume adjustable. We recommend over the ear headphones for comfort. You will find that as soon as you introduce noise cancellation, the price increases a lot (but it is totally worth the investment).
Once you have all this you can plug it into your mixer and start recording your sessions/audios.
Before doing this, you will want to ensure that your voice sounds good. Within the mixer change up the gain dial and the effects dial to make your voice come across as dynamic and clear. Ever wondered why a singer on CD sounds different to in person? This is due to the dials on the mixer being changed up to make the individuals voice better.
The second thing to do if working in session with a client is do a sound check. Make sure they can hear the music and your voice at a comfortable level. On the mixer you will be able to adjust your voice and the volume of your music. The client will also have control over volume with the headset. Most headphones with volume control and noise cancellation have the buttons on the earpieces.
Hint: If doing a recording to sell online and you make a mistake tap on the head of the microphone a few times. This way when you go to edit the contents the audio will have a “peak” and you will know this is where the mistake is. See picture for reference.
To edit your audio for free you can use a program called Audacity. Simply load the recording from the recording device onto your pc and place it into Audacity for editing. Everyone that purchases a RySe system gains access to an online course “How to Record your Hypnosis Audios”.
